The social-emotional benefits of doll houses are no secret. The opportunities for imaginative play and creating and playing out conversations is never ending. Less spoken about is the chance doll houses give children to be in control. At this moment, a child can decide which day of the week it is, what he or she wished their bedtime routine would look like, how many siblings he or she had and, you get the point... Happy playing! Take a moment to watch your child with her or his dollhouse. You will not stop learning.

Here is a little visual to help express the difference between a Reggio inspired classroom and a conventional preschool classroom.

In which of these two spaces would you be able to have better focus? Where would your mind be open to new experiences and learning? Which classroom looks more similar to your home, the place where you relax at the end of a long day?

Reggio classrooms are decorated in soothing, natural colors. The elements of light and natural materials are strongly valued. Reggio classrooms help open the mind and facilitate learning.

​Notice how the walls are mostly bare? They are waiting to be decorated by the students who will call this room home; no busy, commercial posters here.
